Yarm YorkshireWelcome to our page of information, attractions and places of interest around Yarm. The Yarm hotels listed below are either in the town or we have given a rough guide as to how far they are from Yarm. From Yarm you are well placed to explore Tyne and Wear, Northumberland and Durham with their coastal fortresses, magnificent cities, forests and valleys, pretty villages, wide empty beaches and the evocative ruins of Hadrian's Wall. We hope you enjoy your stay and find your ideal accommodation from our list of Yarm hotels and the surrounding area.

Yarm was the most important town and port on the River Tees from medieval times, and was home to ropemakers, brewers, tanners, nailers, clockmakers and shipbuilders. In 1207 King John granted Yarm a weekly market and two annual fairs, and from then on Yarm's prosperity grew. As ships grew in size and became unable to navigate far up river, Yarm's importance declined and the role of the old town was taken over by Stockton and ultimately Middlesbrough, both of which are much further downstream.
