is an attractive small stone-built town perched high above the
Wooler Water and the natural gateway to the Cheviot Hills and
the Northumberland National Park. From its main street formed
by the Market Place and High Street, three roads lead off through
the foothills into the National Park. The busy main street with
its inns, specialist shops, working pottery and grocery stores
is the leading shopping centre in the area. Wooler is an excellent
base for touring, the foothills with their quiet backroads and
bridleways are ideal for cycling and riding. |
