Witney in Oxfordshire, world famous for its blankets.
Over recent years Witney has grown rapidly, yet it still manages
to retain its charm as an attractive Cotswold market town. Witney
market square features the Buttercross, a medieval marketing
and meeting place which has a steeply gabled roof clock-turret.
Opposite is the 17th century Town Hall. Next to Market Squareis
Church Green overlooked by the tower and spire of the 13th century
church of St. Mary. Witney has good shopping including major
chain stores good pubs and restaurants & leisure facilities.
Witney is 10 miles west of Oxford,
10 miles south of Chipping Norton
and 25 miles east of Cheltenham. |
