resort. Whitby is beautifuly places on the coast and right next
to the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. The ruins of St.
Hilda's Abbey, high on the East Cliff looks down on Whitby's
maze of alleyways, narrow streets and busy quayside. From the
town thousands of visitors enjoy climbing the 199 steps which
lead to the parish church of St. Mary, whose churchyard inspired
Bram Stoker to write his book, Dracula. Another famous name associated
with Whitby is Captain James Cook, the 18th century explorer
and voyager. A replica of Captain Cook's ship "HM Bark Endeavour"
sits in the harbour. A pair of whale jaw bones is a land-mark
of the town. Whitby Jet is known for its soft texture, dense
