Bed and breakfast in West Malling |
|
Welcome
to our page of bed and breakfast in West Malling! West
Malling is a fascinating little village, picturesque, historic
and lively with many historical buildings. Prior House in King
Street is thought to have been a leper hospital, it is now a
medieval hall house and a fine example of what many of the houses
in West Malling were like before modern alterations were made.
Ford House in the high street is at least 600 years old, Malling
Place in St Leonard's Street dates back to Elizabethan times
and was the home of several Admirals of the Fleet. Went House
in Swan Street is a splendid example of the Queen Anne period
with wrought iron and hand made bricks. One of the most impressive
buildings is St Leonard's Tower built by Bishop Gundolf, who
also built Rochester Cathedral and the White Tower of London.
In the town is the parish church of St Mary the Virgin, which
has a huge Norman tower (West Malling used to be called town
of three towers - the abbey tower, St Leonard's tower and the
church tower). Also see West Malling
