Some industry exists in Wallasey including flour milling and ship repairing, but Wallasey is primarily residential. A popular place to shop is The Cherry Tree Shopping Centre. Part of Wallasey is the holiday resort of New Brighton. Wallasey runs into Birkenhead, close to Liverpool via the ferry & tunnel, and is 15 miles north of Chester. 	Wirral Tramway & Wirral Transport Museum, 1 Taylor Street, Birkenhead, CH41 1BG. Tel: 0151 647 2128. Birkenhead was the first place in Europe to adopt a street tramway, which ceased in 1937. The trams were brought back to life in 1995, making a short journey from Woodside to the Wirral Transport Museum. In addition to trams, the museum houses a collection of buses, cars and motorbikes.
