Durness Visitor Centre, Durness, Sutherland

golden Sango Bay and is within sight of the most north-westerly
tip of mainland Scotland, Cape Wrath. Inside, the centre has
several comprehensive exhibits, covering crofting, natural history
and local customs and culture.About

Smoo
Cave, Durness. Set into limestone cliffs, Smoo Cave is 200 feet
long, 130 feet wide, and 50 feet high at the entrance. This easily
accessible cave has the largest entrance of any sea cave in the
British Isles. Its interior is floodlit and the depths can be
explored by boat. Recent excavations show that the cave was in
use 6000 years ago by the earliest settlers in the north. www.smoocave.org. About

Castle Varrich, Tongue. The remains of Caisteal
Bharraigh are spectacularly located on the summit of a bluff
dominating the Kyle of Tongue. Reputed to have been the stronghold
of a Norse warrior of the 11th Century. About 1 mile west of Tongue. |
