Tipperary Town the capital of the County of Tipperary. It was originally an Anglo-Norman settlement, it is now at the centre of a fertile plain known as the Golden Vale. This Golden Vale provides perfect lands for dairy farming making the area the envy of farmers throughout Ireland. The town is situated on the N24 route between Limerick and Waterford. Signs on roads entering the town quip "You've come a long way..." in reference to the popular World War I-era song "It's a Long Way to Tipperary".

AttractionsAthassel Priory was a foundation of the Augustinian Canons Regular. The priory was one of the largest mediaeval priories in Ireland, founded about 1200 by William de Burgo, a Norman knight and kinsman of Henry II. He was buried a few years later within the walls. The two original altar stones can be seen in the south transept. About 8 miles east of Tipperary.

Athassel Priory

Attractions The Rock of Cashel served as the traditional seat of the Kings of Munster, although the majority of buildings on the current site date from the 12th and 13th centuries. It is one of the most remarkable collections of Celtic art and medieval architecture to be found anywhere in Europe. About 10 miles east of Tipperary.
