Tillicoultry is a Hillfoot village in Clackmannanshire, situated to the north of the River Devon between Alva and Dollar along the base of the southern edge of the Ochil Hills. The Tillicoultry Burn emerging from Mill Glen here was harnessed to power the woollen mills, and Tillicoultry developed as a textile manufacturing town. By 1870 there were 12 mills employing over 2000 people on 230 power looms and 340 hand looms in Tillicoultry. 	The National Wallace Monument, near Stirling. Open all year, with fascinating exhibits and displays. Either hop aboard the free minibus shuttle which operates all day, or walk through the wooded slopes of Abbey Craig to reach The Monument. About 6 miles west of Tillicoultry.
