Bed and breakfast in Thirsk |
|
Bed and breakfast in Thirsk. Thirsk is an old fashioned
market town in the Vale of Mowbray situated at the foot of the
Hambleton Hills, North Yorkshire. It is famous for its race course
and 15th Century Church. Thirsk is also the "Darrowby "of
the late James Herriot (Alf Wight), famous vet and author. Thirsk
is set in the centre of "Herriot Country", Gateway
to the Yorkshire Dales National Park to the west and the North
York Moors National Park to the east. It is a very well established
market town and florished for many years as a staging post between
London and the North. Thirsk has a cobbled market square and
many shops retain their original frontages. The Cod Beck river
flows through the middle of the town. Also see Thirsk
& Thirsk attractions.
