Thame was first mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1087. The wide main street includes houses and inns dating from the 15th century and a grammar school, Lord Williams's from the 16th century. The picturesque Phoenix Trail, a shared-use path for cyclists, walkers and horse riders, runs along the old railway route between Thame and Princes Risborough. Station: THAME. 5miles. From south leave M40 at Junction 7. Take A329 towards Thame. Immediately after crossing over the motorway, turn left on to A40 (in front of Three Pigeons Public House). The hotel is 300 yards along this road on the right.
