Welcome to our page of bed and breakfast
in Tenterden! Tenterden lies on the border of the
dense woodlands of the Weald and the farmlands of the Rother
Levels, that run down to the Romney Marshes. Tenterden and some
of its neighbouring villages were an important centre of the
Broadcloth manufacturing industry. Today, Tenterden is a prosperous
country town, with a tree-lined High Street full of mostly, locally-owned
shops, restaurants and cafés. Known as the Jewel
of the Weald, Tenterdens beautiful architecture includes
white-painted weatherboarding, tile-hung fascias and the unique
mathematical tile. At the heart of Tenterden can
be found the beautiful old church of St Mildred, whose records
date from 1180. It has a finely carved wooden ceiling which dates
from the 15th Century, and a tower made of Bethersden marble.
The Kent and East Sussex Steam Railway runs a scheduled service
from Tenterden to Bodiam Castle, some ten miles away. |
