Teignmouth (pronounced "Tinmouth") is an estuary town with a thriving harbour on the banks of the river Teign. There is a promenade, pebble beach, a pier that formerly segregated male and female bathers and a popular Lido. In the town there are some pleasant Georgian and Victorian villas and terraces and a busy shopping centre. The estuary crossing to Shaldon is by road bridge or passenger ferry.
