St Austell hotels
The
St Austell hotels
listed below are either in the town or we have given a rough guide as to how far they are from St Austell. We hope you enjoy your stay and find your ideal accommodation.
St Austell was transformed in the mid-eighteenth century by the chemist Williarn Cookworthy, by the discovery of huge reserves of china clay to the north and west of the village. By the 1850s 7,000 men, women and children were employed in the extraction, processing, transportation and export of the clay, and heavy wagons rumbled through the streets of St Austell on their way to the ports of Charlestown, Pentewan and Par. The town's history is reflected in the 1791 Market house and the Holy Trinity Church. Also see
