Restormel Castle. Built in c. 1300, the great
circular shell-keep of Restormel survives in good condition.
It stands on an earlier Norman mound surrounded by a deep dry
ditch, atop a high spur beside the River Fowey. Twice visited

Catherine's Castle, Fowey, Cornwall. One of a pair of small artillery
forts built by Henry VIII in the 1530s to defend Fowey Harbour,
consisting of two storeys with gun ports at ground level. Parking
is located in Fowey which is 1/2 mile walk.
