Southend-on-Sea is a seaside resort
in the county of Essex on the north bank of the Thames estuary.
It has a 1.3 mile (2km) long pier which extends out into the
Estuary - the longest pleasure pier in the world. Southend also
boasts a Golden Mile of amusement arcades and attractions. Southend-on-Sea
is the largest town in Essex. Southend has numerous leisure facilities
and attractions, excellent shopping facilities, restaurants,
wine bars and pubs. There are two direct railway lines to London,
and the M25 motorway is less than half an hour away. In addition,
Southend also has its own airport. Southend-on-Sea is 8 miles
east of Basildon, 15 miles SE of
Chelmsford and 4
