Sheringham has a long heritage, and was primarily a fishing village. In the 19th century, the advent of the railway to Sheringham meant the beginning of the tourism industry, with hotels and guest houses opening up to serve the new visitors. The fishing industry continues from Sheringham today, and tourists continue to come to the town, which has attractions such as the North Norfolk Railway, the Little Theatre and Sheringham Park. 	Cromer Pier. The pier celebrated its centenary in 2001. Today, the Edwardian pier is a popular destination with holidaymakers who come to be entertained at the pier's theatre, to walk along or to enjoy a bit of fishing from the pier-head. About 2 miles east of Sheringham.
