at the south east corner of the Island, at the southernmost tip
of Sandown Bay. Shanklin has long been a popular location for

Wightlink
Isle of Wight Ferries operates a round-the-clock
service between the English mainland and the Isle of Wight. We
run every day of the year on three routes across the Solent and
sail up to 230 times a day. Portsmouth to Fishbourne takes approximately
40 minutes; Lymington to Yarmouth 30 minutes (both car ferries),
and Portsmouth to Ryde around 18 minutes (FastCat foot passenger
catamaran).
Red Funnel operates a car and passenger service between Southampton
and East Cowes. High speed passenger-only services to Southampton
operate from "West" Cowes under the name of "Red
Jet".
Hovertravel carries passengers between
Southsea and Ryde aboard a hovercraft.

Island Line operate the eight and half miles of passenger
railway on the Isle of Wight, serving the island towns of Ryde,
Brading, Sandown, Lake and Shanklin. The railway connects to
the high speed ferry terminal at the top of Ryde Pier, allowing
easy access to the mainland and London. They are electric trains,
former London Underground rolling stock. |
