SelkirkWelcome to our page of information, attractions and places of interest around Selkirk. The Selkirk hotels listed below are either in the town or we have given a rough guide as to how far they are from Lanark. From Selkirk you can explore the rolling green hills of the Borders region, the rich farmland, medieval abbeys, stately homes and small stone-built towns, the meandering River Tweed and the North Sea coast. We hope you enjoy your stay and find your ideal accommodation.

The Royal Burgh of Selkirk is 6 miles south of Melrose. Historical sites there include the Courthouse where Walter Scott served as Sheriff for 30 years and a statue to Mungo Park the famous 18th century explorer who was born close-by. Visit the town in June to witness one of the most traditional pageantry events. The Selkirk Gathering, or Common Riding is the largest of the Border Ridings, and this festival dates back to the Battle of Flodden in 1513. Up to 500 riders saddle their horses at daybreak to ride the Marches. Also see Selkirk.
