The town of Seaford is a quiet seaside resort in East Sussex.
It is located on the foot of the South Downs, a range of hills
stretching from Winchester to Eastbourne. There is a pleasant
shingle beach. To the east are the South Downs with wide views
and many walks. Seaford Museum is housed in Martello Tower no.74,
situated at the eastern end of Seaford seafront. Seaford used
to have a fine harbour, but by the late 1500's it had silted
up making landing impossible. The harbour moved to nearby Newhaven
about 2 miles to the west some time before 1565. Also see Seaford & Seaford
