Salon de Provence Provence-Alpes Cotes-D'Azur
 |
 |
 |
|
Salon-de-Provence is a town in the
Bouches-du-Rhône department of the Provence-Alpes Cotes-D'Azur.
The town is surrounded by magnificent countryside and olive groves.
The oldest part of Salon is built on a small foothill, overlooking
the narrow streets. It is one of the oldest villages in Provence
and it was the village of the famous clairvoyant scholar Nostradamus.
His house is in the old district and it is now a museum which
details his life and unique personality. The culture of the olive
tree has always been part of Salon's traditions and the manufacture
of olive oil and soap known as "savon de Marseilles"
are part of the village's cultural heritage. |
