From Rye the rural and coastal county
of Sussex can be accessed. The county is now divided into East
and West Sussex and is bounded on the north by Surrey, east by
Kent, south by the English Channel, and west by Hampshire. It
is an area with a fertile coastal plain along which are scattered
numerous resort towns including Hastings, Bexhill, Eastbourne,
Seaford, Brighton, Shoreham-by-Sea, Worthing, Littlehampton and
Bognor. The South Downs Way runs along the grassy ridge of the
South Downs, giving splendid views over the countryside and the
coast over the chalk cliffs of Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters. |
