Royston was principally a market town relying on farming and agricultural industries. In recent years, however, there has been an expansion of the town with the introduction of light industry. Hidden beneath Melbourn Street is Royston Cave, discovered in 1742, it remains a mysterious and magical place, attracting visitors from around the world.
