121. Balvenie is a castle of enclosure, with a massive 13th century
curtain wall, built in a strategically significant position in
the Glen. It was first owned by the powerful Comyn Earls of
Buchan, then added to in the 15th and 16th centuries. The property
is managed by Historic Scotland. About 7 miles south of Rothes. |
