Welcome to our page of accommodation in Rochester!
Rochester, along with Chatham and Gillingham, forms a
conurbation known as the Medway towns. Rochester has a handsome
High Street lined with antique shops, cafes and pubs housed in
old half-timbered and weatherboarded buildings. The shell of
a Norman castle at the northwest end of the High street is one
of the best preserved examples of a Norman fortress in England.
The superb cathedral has a splendid Norman west front, with pencil-shaped
towers and richly carved portal and tympanum above the doorway.
Rochester was the home of Charles Dickens and many town buildings
feature in his novels. |
