Robin Hood's Bay attractions

		Robin Hood's Bay lies in Yorkshire, the largest of all England's counties. In the northwest of the county lies the Yorkshire Dales National Park, a lovely patchwork of limestone hills, gentle valleys and the high peaks of Whernside, Pen-y-ghent and Ingleborough. The classical Yorkshire Dales spread to the north from the market and spa towns of Settle, Skipton, Ilkley and Harrogate in North Yorkshire, with most of the larger southern dales such as Ribblesdale, Malhamdale and Airedale, Wharfedale and Nidderdale running roughly parallel from north to south, and the more northerly dales including Wensleydale, Swaledale and Teesdale running generally from west to east. The North York Moors is the county's other national park, with bleak upland moors and a magnificent rugged coastline. To the southeast of the region lie the Yorkshire Wolds, formed from chalk hills that arc from the Humber estuary west of Kingston upon Hull up to the North Sea coast between Bridlington and Scarborough. 	Whitby Abbey, Whitby Tel: 01947 603568. From high on its commanding cliff top, Whitby Abbey overlooks the picturesque fishing town of Whiby. The haunting ruins are now maintained by English Heritage, and were once the inspiration for Bram Stoker's "Dracula". About 4 miles north of Robin Hood's Bay.
	The Cleveland Way is a 110 mile National Trail between Helmsley and Filey via Osmotherley, Saltburn, Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Ravenscar and Scarborough, around the North York Moors National Parks. It passes right through Robin Hoods Bay. Location: In the centre of Robin Hood's Bay.
	Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary, Scalby Mills, Scarborough, North Yorkshire YO12 6RP Tel: 01723 376125. The centre houses thousands of fascinating creatures as well a busy, and highly successful marine sanctuary for orphaned, sickly and injured seal pups. The magnificent ocean tank has been spectacularly transformed to become Turtle Reef, with its own colourful Caribbean-style coral reef and hundreds of dazzling reef fish sharing quarters with turtles and tropical sharks. www.aquariauk.com. 	Scarborough Castle, North Yorkshire YO11 1HY Tel: 01723 372 451. Scarborough Castle defends a prominent headland between two bays, with sheer drops to the sea and only a narrow landward approach. Specially constructed viewing platforms now offer wonderful views of the coastline. The site's 3,000-year history is explored in new interactive displays in the restored Master Gunner's House. Less mobile visitors can enjoy a ground-floor touch-screen virtual tour of the displays. About 10 miles south of Robin Hood's Bay.
