	Avondale House and Forest Park, Rathdrum, Co. Wicklow. TEL: 0404-46111. Avondale House, the birthplace and home of Charles Stewart Parnell (1846-1891) one of the greatest political leaders of Irish history. Set in a magnificent forest park of over 500 acres with tree trails and walks ranging in duration from one to five hours. This beautiful Georgian House designed by James Wyatt and built in 1777 contains fine plasterwork and many original pieces of furniture. About 1 mile south of Rathdrum.
	The scenic valley of Glenmalure is the longest glacier valley in either Ireland or Britain, shadowed by the mighty Lugnaquilla mountain at 927m. A walkers paradise, it is situated on the famous Wicklow Way Walk. About 6 miles west of Rathdrum.
	Broad Lough, Wicklow. Broad Lough is a lagoon, approximately 3 km in length, at the mouth of the Vartry River. The southern part of the lagoon narrows into the Leitrim River, which continues for a short distance to the sea at Wicklow Harbour. Broad Lough supports a variety of waterfowl species. About 10 miles northeast of Rathdrum.
