The lush valley of the Loire is rich
in history and architecture. It is renowned for its sumptuous
chateux, sophisticated cities, beautiful landscape and delicious
food and wine. The magnificent Renaissance chateaux of Chambord
and Chenonceau and the historic towns of Amboise, Blois, Saumur
and Beaugency lie along the banks of the river, while the cathedral
cities of le Mans and Chartres are to the north of the region.
River cruises are available from Angers and Nantes while the
sandy Atlantic coast offers beach holidays. |
