Bolton Castle Leyburn Yorkshire 01969 623981	Completed in 1399, Bolton Castle was the stronghold of the Scrope family. The castle has a wealth of history - Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned here for 6 months.Tableaux displays of life in medieval times, gardens and vineyards.

Richmond Castle Richmond Town centre 01748 822493	View one of the great northern castles of medieval England. Overlooking the lovely River Swale and guarding the bustling market town of Richmond, the castle was built by William the Conqueror as a mighty fortress and palatial residence.
	Ripley Castle has been the home for the Ingilbys since 1325. The rooms are fine Tudor and Georgian, the Knight's Chamber contains civil war armour and a secret priest's hiding hole, accidentally discovered in 1964. Skipton Castle Skipton North Yorkshire 01756 792442	For over 900 years Skipton Castle has stood firm through wars and sieges at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. Once home to the famous Clifford Lords, it is one of the best preserved and most complete medieval castles in England. Fully roofed, it is a fascinating and delightful place to explore in any season - from the atmospheric Dungeon to the great Watch Tower, from the Chapel to the beautiful Conduit Court.

	One of the country's finest tourist attractions, Castle Howard is one of the most beautiful historic houses in England. This 18th century palace has unique collections of statuary, furniture, ceramics and paintings surrounded by a breathtaking mix of sweeping grounds and spectacular gardens. East Riddleston Hall Bradford Road Keighley West Yorkshire 01535 607075	This delightful house was owned and remodelled during the 1600s by James Murgatroyd of Halifax. It contains a wonderful collection of beautiful embroideries, Yorkshire carved oak furniture and fine ceilings. In the grounds a magnificent oak framed barn has survived unchanged since the 17th century.
	One of England's renowned Adam houses, an exceptional example of 18th century interior decoration. Superb contents include classical statuary, Gobelins tapestries and fine Chippendale furniture. 25 acres of award-winning gardens are full of rare and beautiful plants, with the famous double herbaceous borders forming the main axis. Temple Newsam House off Selby Road Leeds 0113 2647321	A magnificent Tudor-Jacobean mansion set in a 900 acre park laid out by Capability Brown. The birthplace of Lord Darnley, husband of Mary, Queen of Scots, and the home of the Ingram family until it was sold to Leeds by Lord Halifax in 1922. Superb interiors, Old Master paintings, Chippendale furniture, Leeds creamware and a spectacular silver collections.
	An elegant town house in the very heart of York, originally the home of the Treasurer's of York Minster, and restored to its former splendour by Yorkshire industrialist Frank Green at the end of the 19th century.
