Middens Bastle House, near Bellingham. A stone, two-storey fortified
farmhouse, built during the 16th century and set in splendid
walking country on the Reivers Route. The site is owned by English
Heritage and is freely accessible in daylight hours. There is

Otterburn

mill shop with an intriguing display of original mill machinery
dating from the days when local farmers would bring their own
wool to be woven at the mill. The mill's most famous product,
the Otterburn Pram Rug, as used by the Royal family, is still
on sale. The mill is situated near the junction of the A68 (Corbridge
