The North Yorkshire Moors
National Park has a superb coastline with high cliffs backing
onto beautiful countryside. It has the largest expanse of heather
moorland in England, in summer a sea of wonderful purple.
From the cliff-top roads
there are splendid views across the open moors and the dales
shelter abbeys, castles, picturesque stone villages and market
towns.
This is perfect walking
country - the 110 - mile - long Cleveland Way covers a cross
- section of the park. The spectacular coastline is a region
rich in history, geology and wildlife.
