The Pyrenees are a range of
mountains in southwest Europe that form a natural border between
France and Spain. They separate the Iberian Peninsula from France.
Andorra is between the two countries, set in the Pyrenees. The
Midi-Pyrenees is set on the highest part of the Pyrenean chain
with peaks reaching 9,850 feet. The region lies between Aquitaine
to the west and Languedoc-Roussillon to the east, and is about
the same size as Switzerland and Luxembourg put together. The
Midi-Pyrenees boasts a very wide range of vineyards in which
some of the best red and white wines of southwestern France are
produced. The Midi-Pyrenees scenery is shaped with many valleys
the main ones being the Dordogne, the Aveyron, the Tarn, the
Lot, and the Garonne, each with beautiful towns and chateaus.
