Welcome to our page of information, attractions
and places of interest around New Ross. The New Ross
hotels listed below are either in the town or we have given
a rough guide as to how far they are from New Ross. The Republic
of Ireland is bound to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the
east is the Irish Sea which reconnects to the ocean via the southwest
with St. George's Channel and the Celtic Sea. The Republic of
Ireland has 26 counties, and five cities Dublin, Cork,
Galway, Limerick, and Waterford. The west-coast of Ireland features
cliffs, hills and low mountains. The centre of the country is
flat with large areas of bogland. We hope you enjoy your stay
and find your ideal accommodation from our list of New Ross hotels.
New Ross is a small town in southwest
County Wexford, in the southeast of Ireland. Dunganstown, 4 miles
south of New Ross, is the ancestoral home of the Kennedy family
which includes Joe Kennedy, John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy and
senator Ted Kennedy whose grandfather emigrated to America from
there. New Ross is Ireland's only inland port, some 32km from
the sea on the River Barrow. Visitors to New Ross will immediately
be drawn to the magnificent sight of the masts and rigging of
the historic emigrant ship Dunbrody towering over the quayside.
Dunbrody is a full scale replica of the original ship which was
built in 1845 for the Graves family of New Ross and which carried
thousands of emigrants from Ireland to North America over a period
of 30 years, trading extensively all over the world. The ship
itself is a beautiful authentic recreation.
