Leasowe Lighthouse was built in 1763 and is the oldest lighthouse in England. Christ Church in Moreton was built in 1863. Moreton railway station was opened in 1866. It was seen as beneficial for conditions such as rheumatism and was chosen as the place to build the Liverpool Open-Air Hospital for children with tuberculosis.
