To the west of this region
lies Shropshire on the rolling hills between Birmingham and the
Welsh border, with it's capital Shrewsbury, the finest Tudor
town in Britain.
To the north is Staffordshire,
the famous Potteries district, and Nottinghamshire with Sherwood
Forest, once home of the legendary Robin Hood.
In the centre is Leicestershire
with several interesting towns and historic sites, and to the
south, Nottinghanshire and Bedfordshire, peaceful and largely
agricultural counties.
