Welcome to our page of bed and breakfast in Merthyr
Tydfil accommodation! Merthyr Tydfil
sits at the top of the Taff Valley in the traditional county
of Glamorgan, with Cardiff and Swansea both 30 minutes away.
At its height in the 18th and 19th centuries, Merthyr Tydfil
was the largest iron-producing town in the world. In 1987, the
iron foundry, all that remained of the former Dowlais iron works,
closed, marking the end of 228 years continuous production on
one site. A Roman fort once stood proudly on what is now Merthyr
Football Club's ground, Merthyr Tydfil F.C. or 'The Martyrs'
play in the Southern Football League. The beautiful and dramatic
countryside around Merthyr Tydfil is the perfect setting for
a wide range of activities and attractions. The Taff Trail, which
links the capital city of Cardiff to the historic market town
of Brecon, passes through some of the Taff valley's most spectacular
countryside. |
