steep sided valley, about 3 miles from Matlock. The British Rail
station at Matlock Bath was built in 1849 to look like a Swiss
Chalet. A cable car ride takes you above Matlock Bath to the
Heights of Abraham - adventure play areas, woodland walks, show
caverns, and stunning views. Matlock Bath was a prosperous spa
in the nineteenth century. Mining has played an important part
in the development of the area and the Mining Museum here is
an excellent and informative attraction. A walk along the river
edge is like a stroll along a coastal seafront, with its gift
