Marlborough is situated near the towns of Hungerford, Calne & Swindon, on the Old Coaching route between London and Bristol. Marlborough received its town charter in 1204. The high street is the widest in England, flanked on either side by historic buildings, and allowing plenty of space for the local market which is held on Wednesdays and Saturdays. 	The Castle and Ball is situated in the centre of Britain's widest high street, home to an inn since the 15th century. It is an ideal base for visiting Avebury's ancient stone circle and Silbury Hill, and Bowood House and Gardens. Station: PEWSEY. 7miles. The A345 from Junction 15 of the M4 brings you to Marlborough. Turn right into the high street. The hotel is on the right approximately halfway along.
