In the 18th century many coaching inns were established and some remain in the High Street. The 19th century brought the canal in 1809 and the railway in 1850. St Dionysius is the parish Church, and towers 160 feet high above the town. Its origins go back to the 14th century. The old Market Harborough Grammar School, in the High Street, stands on huge oak legs.
