Oast House conversion, although the exterior roundel has been
removed, offers a taste of history with the original, preserved
beams displaying the clear dates of hop-picking during 19th Century.
This is a prime location for touring the castles, gardens and
historic houses within the glorious heart of Kent. Only a 10
minute drive from Maidstone, the county town of Kent with shops
and Leisure Centres and 30 minutes from the Eurotunnel terminal
in Ashford. Many local golf courses including Chart Hills at
Biddenden - designed by Nick Faldo, Ticehurst - designed by Ian
Woosnan and of course Sandwich - home to the 2003 British Open
Championship - less than 1 hours drive. Stunning gardens and
ponds (children and pets must be supervised as these are not
fenced) are abundant with long established plants, colourful
climbing roses, clematis and a sea of bulbs in the spring are
a haven for birds of many varieties - with regular visits from
a Kingfisher and a heron. Guests can enjoy these beautiful grounds
- and have use of the orchard and patio overlooking the pond
with garden furniture and barbecue. |
