Linlithgow Palace.Tel 01506 842896. The magnificent
roofless remains of Linlithgow Palace are set in a park beside
a loch. All of the Stewart kings lived at the Palace. Numerous
renovations to the palaces grand facades and chambers were
carried out as each sought to create the ideal modern palace.
The Palace is the birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots. It is now
under the care of Historic Scotland. Location: In the centre of Linlithgow. |

Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway, Bo'ness Station, Union Street,

Railway Preservation Society is dedicated to the advancement
of Scottish railway heritage. It has the largest collection of
railway locomotives, carriages, wagons, equipment and artefacts
outside the National Railway Museum. Travel on the Bo'ness &
Kinneil Railway along the south shore of the Firth of Forth,
or board a day excursion organised by SRPS Railtours over Britain's

Tour guides will meet your train at Birkhill Station (the Mine
is open on every day when trains run), and will lead you down
into the ancient woodland of the beautiful Avon Gorge, home to
much wildlife including deer and otters, and then on into the
Mine caverns. Experienced guides will show you the underground
workings, the 300 million year old fossils and help explain how
the fireclay was mined, what it was used for, and its important
role in the industrial revolution. About 2 miles west of Linlithgow. |
