Leyland is a town in the borough of South Ribble, Lancashire, 9 miles south of Preston. A historic town, it was mentioned in the Doomsday book. St Andrew's parish church was built around 1200 and a stone cross is thought to date back to Saxon times. Leyland is most famous for the bus and truck manufacturer Leyland Motors, which between the '50s and '70s expanded and grew to own several British motor manufacturers.
