Formerly the home of the Boyd family, Earl of Kilmarnock, Dean
Castle houses a wonderful collection of arms, armour, tapestries
and musical instruments. The earliest part of the fortress is

has exhibitions, ship models and a children's activity area.
The guided tours start here throughout the day. Visit Scotland's
"Cathedral to Engineering", the Linthouse Engine Shop,
built in 1872, where you can explore much of the Museum's collection
inside, including shipbuilding machinery and machine tools, smaller
