Kendal has narrow yards and lanes, where weavers once
lived, branch off the main street. There were once about 150
yards in Kendal, often named after the owner of the main house.
Kendal is an historical town, close to the National Park boundary
offering many attractions.
Kendal Museum is owned and managed by South Lakeland District
Council. Kendal is the gateway to the Lakes and is famous for
its mint cake. The hilltop ruin of Kendal
Castle dominates the town. From here you can enjoy views
over the town. Kendal has much to offer in the way of shops,
pubs and restaurants,
and was once voted voted the best place to live in England. Kendal
Town Hall is situated in the centre of Kendal and is where the
Tourist Information Centre can be found. |
