and lanes of weavers cottages, branching off the main street.
There were once about 150 of these yards in Kendal, often named
after the owner of the main house. Kendal is a historical town
with many attraction and is famous for its mint cake. The hilltop
ruin of Kendal Castle dominates and overlooks the town. From
here you can enjoy views over the town. Kendal has much to offer
in the way of shops, pubs and restaurants, and was once voted
the best place to live in England. Kendal Town Hall is situated
in the centre of Kendal and is the home of the Tourist Information
