Valentines Park is Ilford’s largest park, with open spaces, a boating lake, tennis courts, basketball courts, bowling greens and cricket pitches. A number of major businesses have been founded in Ilford, namely the photographic film and chemicals manufacturer Ilford. Dr Barnardo's Village Homes for Girls started in Ilford, and John Logie Baird, who invented the television, moved to Ilford in the mid/late 1920s to work on his new invention. It is now an arts, heritage and community resource. Gift shop and tea room. About 2 miles south of Ilford.
