has a maritime history that dates back to 1299 and gradually
became England's leading harbour. Hull has a wide variety of
options when it comes to eating out. It has a modern, vibrant
city centre full of character. Shopping in Hull is easy with
its mainly pedestrianised city centre, Princes Quay and the Prospect
Shopping Centre. In the Old Town, Hepworth's Arcade is a Victorian
thoroughfare, which leads to Hull Covered Market with fruits,
vegetables, meats and fish stalls. The market is open from Monday
to Saturday each week. Hull Museums and Art Gallery, housed in
what was formerly the Town Docks offices, is an impressive building
with a fine collection of paintings, artifacts and models. Hull
