Corbridge Roman Site, Tel: 01434 632349. This
well-known Roman camp was the main supply depot for the armies
building and guarding Hadrian's wall nearly 2000 years ago. The
substantial remains of this excavated Roman settlement include
the best example of military granaries in the country. The museum
houses finds from the site, including the famous stone fountainhead
- the Lion of Corbridge, giving a fascinating insight into Roman

Chesters
Roman Fort (Hadrian's Wall), Northumberland. Chesters Fort was
built to guard the Roman bridge which carried Hadrian's Wall
and the military road over the River North Tyne. It was one of
a series of permanent troop bases added soon after the Wall was
built. The fort is managed by English Heritage.
