Bed and breakfast in Hawkshead |

Bed and breakfast in Hawkshead. Hawkshead
is a tiny village of higgledy-piggledy houses, archways and squares
beloved by William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. The Beatrix
Potter Gallery is housed in a 17th Century building, once the
office of a local solicitor named William Heelis who married
Beatrix Potter in 1913. Cars are banned from the village itself,
with car parking in a large car park on the outskirts. The main
industry of Hawkshead is tourism, with inns, guest houses, teashops
and gift shops catering for the many visitors. The 17th Century
Church of St Michael and All Angels stands high overlooking the
village, with fine views to Esthwaite Water, Claife Heights,
Latterbarrow, Helvellyn and the Langdales. Also see Hawkshead
& Hawkshead attractions.
