Hawarden is a small town in Flintshire, north Wales, a few miles west of the city of Chester. Hawarden Airport is the only public airfield in north Wales, although services are intermittent. One Hawarden's famous residents is the former Prime Minister, William Ewart Gladstone who lived in Hawarden Castle. He founded St Deiniol's Library, situated in Hawarden and recognised as being Britain's finest residential library. After his death in 1898 it became the nation's tribute to his life and work. 	Chester Castle, Chester, Cheshire. Castle built in 1070. Parts of the 12th century inner bailey Agricola Tower and Castle Walls houses a chapel with exceptionally fine wall paintings of c. 1220, rediscovered in the 1980s. English Heritage. About 6 miles east of Hawarden.

	Chester Zoo, Upton-by-Chester, Chester, CH2 1LH. Tel: 01244 380 280. The Chester Zoo baby boom is continuing with the arrival of more offspring. The zoo’s 7000 animals have seen their numbers swell. 	Chester Cathedral, St Werburgh Street, Chester Tel: 01244 324756. A place of worship for over 1000 years. Parts of the Norman church begun in 1092 can still be seen in the present building, which reflects all the Gothic architectural styles. The finest Quire stalls in Britain have intricately carved "misericords" and there is a facsimile of Handel's Messiah first rehearsed here. Beautiful monastic cloisters and garden.
