The Grimsby hotels listed below are either
in the town or we have given a rough guide as to how far they
are from Grimsby. We hope you enjoy your stay and find your ideal
accommodation.
Grimsby is located on the Humber Estuary
on the north-east coast, approximately 30 miles from Hull. Grimsby
is easily reached by road, rail, air or sea and is the main town
in North East Lincolnshire. Grimsby was the world's largest fishing
port in the 19th century. Today, the port is a major centre of
food processing, specialising in the import of Danish and Norwegian
products. Much of the town has been rebuilt with pedestrian malls
and good facilities. Grimsby is traditionally strongly associated
with the sea fishing industry and has the largest fish docks
in the United Kingdom, but as a result of the Cod Wars and reduced
fishing quotas, this industry has been in decline for many years.
In recent years the frozen food industry has become a large part
of Grimsby's economy and new industries such as light engineering,
chemicals and plastics have grown. The port is located only 10
km from the open sea on the Humber estuary. Also see Grimsby
& Grimsby attractions.
